I don't know if you all are familiar with Aronofsky's work, but yeah it's one of his flicks plus a big FX budget. It takes quite a few liberties in telling the story. I can't wait to see it.

Oh yeah his wife was really young compared to him. She also had a kid from a previous marriage I guess. I had the 'privilege' of working with him at Bethel. He was an arrogant snot for some reason. Fuck him.

Bizarre comment about jw.org at SAD
by sir82 inrecently attended a sad.. bethel speaker was gushing about the wt's embrace of new technology, in the part of his talk warning about "apostate" web sites.. a loose summary of his comments:.
"and the brothers at headquarters have made it very safe for you to go to our website.
in fact, the brothers talked to the folks at google, and they made a special arrangement so that when you type in 'j w period' into the google search engine, it automatically shows you the jw.org website.

Once again Blondie is correct. It's something that isn't widely publiczied but organizations can in fact pay Google to make sure their site shows up a top hit when searching. This is actually separate from the ads that often appear at the top of the results (which are marked as ads). So yes, it's quite possible that WT did pay for this in addition to the standard SEO stuff that everyone now does.
edit: JWFacts, Chrome is not the google search engine. The omnibar does save all that stuff, but the speaker was referring going to google.com itself and using the search engine.

Curious change in December 15 Study Article
by Bobcat ini ran across a change between the printed edition of the december 15, 2013 wt study edition and the magazine as a pdf download from the jw.org website.. whether the change amounts to much, i'm not sure.
but it is curious.
the change is in paragraph 16 on page 15:.

dropoffyourkeylee: It was absolutely not a mistake. The magazines are all prepared electronically now so when they release the final copy for printing, the PDF/epub versions are made at the same time with little more than a click of a button. It was clearly revised after thte fact.
The WTBS said recently that the digital versions on the jw.org site are going to be 'up to date' and changed as they see fit.

I'm not sure where they all live now. I'd guess Towers and 124 for the ones still in Brooklyn. The rooms they have there are nice but they aren't anything super amazing. Think small apartment. Who the hell knows what they're getting at Warwick.

Gum Chewing....Allowed in your hall or not?
by LostGeneration inso when i attended, this was never an issue - its been five years since i was booted.
a bit before i woke up, a couple visiting us (middle america) from the deep south basically told me this never, ever was allowed in their hall.
no 'priveleges' for a guy who chewed gum.

It's generally frowned upon.

Furthermore, we can show how deeply we respect the sacred nature of our gatherings by the way we dress. Our appearance with respect to both our clothing and our hairstyle can do much to add to the dignity of our meetings. The apostle Paul counseled: “I desire that in every place the men carry on prayer, lifting up loyal hands, apart from wrath and debates. Likewise I desire the women to adorn themselves in well-arranged dress, with modesty and soundness of mind, not with styles of hair braiding and gold or pearls or very expensive garb, but in the way that befits women professing to reverence God.” ( 1 Timothy 2:8-10 ) When we attend large conventions held in open-air stadiums, our dress can be appropriate to the weather conditions and still be dignified. In addition, our respect for the occasion will lead us to refrain from eating or chewing gum during the sessions. Proper dress and behavior at our gatherings honor Jehovah God, his worship, and our fellow worshippers.
The paragraph specifically mentions conventions but it also applies to regular meetings. I chew gum all the time and I never catch shit. No one really cares except the uber pious fucks
